Collins Stewart Appoints Chief U.S. Equity Strategist

Collins Stewart LLC, a leading independent financial advisory group, today announced that Anthony Dwyer has joined the firm as Managing Director and Chief Equity Strategist in the United States. A new position, Dwyer will be based in Collins Stewart’s New York office.

John Abularrage, Chief Executive of Collins Stewart’s North American operations, said, “The addition of Tony complements Collins Stewart’s already strong U.S. research team and now allows us to articulate a more strategic and comprehensive perspective about where we see the markets moving.”

Abularrage said that Dwyer “will employ macro-economic and fundamental, technical and historical analysis for advising our U.S. institutional clients on how they can capitalize on intermediate and longer term cross-market and sector investment opportunities and trends, giving them a very sharp competitive edge.”

In commenting on the new position Dwyer said “the only thing that is as exciting as the outlook for the equity markets over the next few years, is the outlook for Collins Stewart. I’m looking forward to being part of a research team that is so highly regarded in the industry.”

In recent months, Collins Stewart has added several other high profile senior analysts to its research team from many of the so-called bulge bracket firms, including JP Morgan & Co., Goldman Sachs and Credit Suisse among others.

Dwyer started his equity research career at Prudential-Bache Securities in 1987 and served as equity market strategist at a number of small regional broker firms prior to joining FTN Equity Capital Markets in 2003. At FTN, Dwyer served as an equity market strategist and was a member of the FTN Midwest Securities Investment Committee (IC), where he was later appointed to chair the IC in 2006. He also served on the First Horizon Retirement Investment Committee where he was responsible for helping set investment policy.

Dwyer is a graduate of Le Moyne College where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in politcal science.
