01 May 2003

Hawkpoint announced today that John Richards has been appointed as a consultant to the firm. He will work closely with other senior corporate financiers to help further develop Hawkpoint's business with the retail sector.

John has worked in the City as an analyst for over 25 years and was rated number one UK retail analyst for many of them. More recently he has increasingly focussed on corporate advisory work and was previously associated with Deutsche Bank, which he became a member of in 1999 on their acquisition of BT Alex Brown. Prior to that he was at NatWest Markets. He contributes a regular column to Retail Week.

Patrick Wilson, a Managing Director of Hawkpoint commented:"John is well known and respected by retail sector managements and brings many years of valuable experience of the retail market both in the UK and abroad."

John Richards said:

'I am delighted to be once again associated with an independent firm which keeps close to its clients' needs and strategic thinking and is very well placed to provide timely and well informed advice. The timing also seems propitious as the retail industry re-enters a much more competitive phase in which retailers will need to adapt in order to continue to enjoy growth.'
