John Fang joined Canaccord Genuity through the acquisition of Petsky Prunier and serves as a managing director in the firm’s New York City office. John’s investment banking coverage focuses on sectors where technology, healthcare, and consumer/retail intersect, including e-commerce, healthcare technology, and fintech.
Previously, John was co-founder and managing partner of Parcrest Advisors, where he built a thriving firm in less than two years and successfully sourced and closed transactions in the healthcare, technology, and e-commerce sectors, including a number of cross-border engagements. He has advised on a wide range of transaction types, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, carve-outs, private equity-backed secondary sales, private debt and equity financings, distressed debt sales, loan portfolio sales, growth capital investments, recapitalizations, in and out-of-court restructurings (including DIP financings, §363 asset sales, and Chapter 11 reorganizations), and joint ventures.
John's clients have included Fortune 50 companies, founder-backed ventures, global publicly traded businesses, and private equity portfolio companies. With his experience as a senior banker at Sonenshine Partners, a well-known M&A boutique, and his restructuring work in the Debt Origination & Restructuring group of Raymond James Financial, John brings a wide range of creative and unique advisory skills to assist his clients and their companies. John began his career as an investment banker at Merrill Lynch and holds an A.B. magna cum laude with highest honors from Harvard College, where he was a Harvard College Scholar. He also holds an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where he was elected to the Director’s List multiple times.
