John Prunier has spent more than 20 years covering the media, information, and marketing services industries as a career investment banker. John joined Canaccord Genuity through the acquisition of Petsky Prunier and along with the firm’s other partners, leads client engagements as well as manages the firm’s team of merger & acquisition professionals.
Prior to co-founding Petsky Prunier and Winterberry Group in 1999, John served as the head of the business information services and education publishing group at Veronis Suhler Stevenson (VSS), a New York merchant bank specializing in the media and communications industry. During his tenure at VSS, he led numerous transactions across a broad span of media sectors, including consumer magazine publishing, cable television and information services. Prior to joining VSS, John served as an associate with Morgan, Hughes & Company, a Greenwich, Connecticut-based investment firm. He began his career as a financial analyst at Merrill Lynch in the company's Los Angeles-based public finance group.
As an industry expert, John has been a featured speaker at industry conferences, including those sponsored by the Electronic Retailing Association, ICOM, American Medical Publishers Association, IAB, Directory & Database Publishers Association (U.K.) and the Professional/Scholarly Publishers Division of the Association of American Publishers.
John holds a B.A. from Colgate University and an M.B.A. from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
