Marcus Freeman is the Chief Executive Officer of Canaccord Genuity Australia (CG) and has led the business since its formation as BGF Equities in 2008. Marcus oversaw BGF Equities’ transition to become CG Australia following a transaction with the Toronto-headquartered parent in 2011 which saw CG enter Australia for the first time since its own inception in 1960.
Marcus oversees CG’s Australian operations and has served on the firm’s Global Operating Committee since its formation in 2013. Approaching thirty years of experience in the financial services industry, he has played a pivotal role in positioning CG Australia as a leading capital markets business and in more recent years as a rapidly growing wealth management business.
Post university, Marcus commenced his finance career joining PWC's graduate program in 1996 in the Audit & Business Services group. Marcus subsequently relocated to London and served at Rabobank’s London operation and subsequently at Deutsche Bank London before returning to Australia to commence with Bell Potter Securities in the early 2000s, before co-founding BGF Equities in 2008.
