Kylie Lee

Kylie Lee grew up in a close-knit business family, where she learned the importance of hard work and perseverance from her parents and grandparents. At just 10 years old, she left for boarding school, spending six years away from home—a formative experience that instilled discipline and independence. “I gained discipline through that experience,” she reflects.

Those lessons proved invaluable when, in 2010, she moved to Toronto to pursue a degree in business administration and finance—a decision driven by her long-standing ambition to build a career in business. “I always knew I wanted to be in business,” she reflects.

Her passion for the industry has only grown stronger. “What I love about this field is its ever-changing landscape—you work with diverse companies facing unique challenges across the globe,” she says. As Director of Equity Capital Markets at Canaccord Genuity’s Toronto office, Kylie thrives at the center of this dynamic environment. “Our team serves as the nucleus,” she explains, “driving solutions, collaborating with issuers, and facilitating capital raises”. She also values the firm’s entrepreneurial culture: “It encourages creativity and initiative,” she adds.

Kylie’s advice reflects the lessons she’s learned throughout her life and career: “Be open and adaptable. Never shy away from goals or challenges,” she says. “The fundamentals I learned from my parents still guide me—show up, work hard, and stay committed.”

Kylie keeps very busy, as you might imagine, especially having a young family at home. “Having a child has taught me to slow down and appreciate the present,” she shares. She is equally passionate about mentorship and creating opportunities for others. “Helping people means a lot to me. In the future, I’d love to find ways to support those who might not otherwise have the same opportunities.”
