Rod Phillips

Vice Chairman - Canaccord Genuity Corp.

Rod has decades of business and public policy experience and brings deep relationships at the most senior levels of Canadian business and government. Most recently, he served in the Ontario Government as the Minister of Finance, Minister of the Environment, and Minister of Long-Term Care. He is a lifelong community volunteer, having chaired the boards of various non-profit and philanthropic organizations, supporting civic development, medical and life sciences, and mental health.

Rod also brings substantial operating expertise. He was the President & CEO of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG), leading the commercialization of the gaming industry in the province. He was also the President & CEO of Morneau-Shepell (Lifeworks) where, alongside investment partner Clairvest, he received the Canadian Venture Capital Association Deal of the Year in the Private Equity category. Rod has served on the boards of numerous public and private companies, including as the Chair of Postmedia Networks during their acquisition of Sun Media.

He holds an Honours BA in Political Science and English from Western University, an MBA designation from Wilfrid Laurier University, and also possesses the ICD.D designation granted by the Institute of Corporate Directors.
