Our Canadian operation, Canaccord Genuity Corp., is currently looking for a motivated team player as an Associate with our Research – Metals & Mining team in Toronto.
  
Responsibilities:
 
  • Provide research support to the Research Analyst;
  • Conduct company, industry and macro-economic research;
  • Coordinate, generate and maintain research reports, presentations and databases;
  • Develop and maintain complex financial models;
  • Assist with coordinating quarterly reporting initiatives;
  • Support and answer client queries;
  • Assist with special projects, presentations and initiatives as assigned.
 
Skills & Qualifications:
 
  • Direct experience with and a solid understanding of financial modeling, valuation analysis, statistical analysis, and portfolio management;
  • Expert Excel and Bloomberg skills;
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills;
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • Ability to create high-quality deliverables while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Solid work ethic with a demonstrated ability to work long hours and to be flexible
  • Experience in Investment Banking or Management Consulting preferred, particularly with exposure to the Mining Industry. Candidates with experience in metals trading will also be considered.

Responsibilities:
  • Work alongside deal teams consisting of Canaccord Genuity professionals at all levels including the senior principles, on a variety of advisory and financing transactions in a variety of diversified sectors;
  • Play a key role in all aspects of developing and executing transactions, including:
    • financial analysis
    • value analysis
    • detailed modeling
    • preparation of presentation materials
    • research of company and industry dynamics
    • conducting due diligence
    • preparation of offering documents
    • marketing transactions

​Skills & Qualifications:
  • Completion of a university degree in a business-related discipline;
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a relevant industry;
  • Strong technical/computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, relevant Market Data services);
  • Good communication skills; ability to explain financial and statistical analyses verbally and in writing; and
  • Academic and professional track record of excellence.

  • Good understanding of financial statements and their interaction together;
  • Direct experience with, and a solid understanding of, financial modeling and valuation analysis;
  • Expert MS Office skills (Excel, MS Word and PowerPoint);
  • Bloomberg / FactSet experience an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining very strong attention to detail;
  • Willingness and flexibility to work long hours under deadline pressure and to show initiative.
