Risk Management Intern

The US risk management team is responsible for implementing Canaccord Genuity LLC’s Enterprise Risk Management framework within the firm’s US operations. The US Risk management team closely monitors the Sales & Trading division of the firm with a focus on the trading activities of the US trading desks that include US Corporate Fixed Income, Latin American Fixed Income, International Equities, Options, and US Equities desks. Risk team’s top priority is to ensure that the trading and desks’ inventories comply with the firm’s risk framework and policies. Canaccord’s Enterprise Risk team is looking to hire a temp to focus on daily, monthly, and quarterly reporting across multiple US trading desks. The role will grant the opportunity to take on a wide scope of responsibilities, work closely with stakeholders on various trading desks, and learn about the scope of the firm’s expanding US brokerage business and how it fits into the global operations of the firm as a whole. The role requires the candidate to be a self-starter, resourceful, be intellectually curious in learning about the broker-dealer business and be comfortable in multi-tasking due to the breadth of the US operations.
 
Duties Include but are not limited to:

  • Prepare risk reports for various trading desks pre-market open and post-market close
  • Monitor trading activity in real-time via trading platforms for various potential and real risk limit breaches
  • Address and resolve any risk limit breaches with heads of trading desks
  • Update the risk team and upper management on any risk management developments and trends on a daily and weekly basis
  • Monitor and update desks on any aging inventory
  • Perform month-end independent inventory valuations
  • Review and assign trading limits to potential new clients
  • Assist in the year-end external audit review of the independent inventory valuation process
  • Produce analysis contributing to the firm’s quarterly reporting
  • Ad-hoc projects may include but are not limited to: review existing counterparty ratings and adjust when necessary, assist other departments such as Finance and Operations on ad-hoc projects
 Qualifications/Desired Skills:
 
  • College Graduate plus coursework relevant to finance, risk management, data engineering/analysis or other related disciplines
  • Advanced Excel skills including knowledge of VBA, Macros, Pivot Tables
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are critical
  • Desire to learn about the financial industry and the broker-dealer business, particularly the business of each trading desk under Canaccord’s US entity’s umbrella
  • Intellectual curiosity, a self-starter attitude is crucial to be successful in the role

Events Coordinator

Working closely with the Senior Marketing & Communications Associate, Global Head of Marketing & Communications and Global Marketing team, the candidate will handle events relative to all areas of the Firm including, Investment Banking, Research, Sales & Trading, etc. The candidate must have strong interpersonal skills, willingness to contribute to the team in a capacity outside of specific job function if needed, collaborative mentality and willingness to travel (15 – 20%). 
 

  • Assist in the development of strategy, marketing and execution of global conferences and events.

Desktop Administrator level 1

SUMMARY
The purpose of the Level desktop support technician is to provide hands on technical support across a wide range of systems. The position will be responsible for the full range of support including Level 1 technical support, benchmarking, an diagnostics for CG systems in the USA.  
Additionally, this role will work collaboratively with the SCCM team, network, and server teams to proactively maintain, diagnose, and remediate issues across the Canaccord Genuity LLC environment. 
HOURS are 7 am to 3pm.

  • Maintain and troubleshoot existing PCs and peripherals throughout the company’s network including but not limited to PCs, notebooks, and laptops
  • Provide service and support for all IT equipment to include personal computers, peripheral devices, hardware, and software used for business purposes
  • Support all employees and respond to all incidents in a timely, courteous, and efficient manner
  • Provide training on an as-needed basis to employees
  • Support remote employees with technical assistance, remote access connectivity, equipment diagnosis and troubleshooting of hardware and software
  • Setup and Configure video conferencing and client presentations
  • Desktop performance evaluations (benchmarking and issue resolution)
