Vinay Saraiwala

When you know Vinay, you know our values.

When Vinay Saraiwala was growing up in an industrial city in Eastern India, he watched his entire family, most notably his father, work hard as business owners. “Textiles, shoes and bags…I was born into a business family.” And yet, somehow, it didn’t resonate with him. “As a young person, I was more interested in tech and tech companies,” he says.

What he also watched as a young boy, was Bollywood movies, many of which were shot in London. “London captured my imagination,” he smiles. So, at 24 years old, he attended Warwick Business School and got his Master’s in Finance.

In 2019, he got his start in the industry, working for an advisory firm as an analyst in the Tech sector. “I’m not a 9-to-5 person. I like the intensity.” Vinay goes on to explain why he loves his work. “I thrive under pressure and I love the fact that people are trusting me to help them through significant financial decisions.”

Just a few years later, the firm where he worked was acquired by Canaccord Genuity, and he’s been here ever since, working on the Tech M&A team. “If I ever join another company, the benchmark is so high,” says Vinay. “It’s a close-knit culture here, and it stems from the top.”

Vinay is passionate about his work to be sure, but he’s also passionate about cricket. “I’m a huge cricket fan,” he laughs. “I watch it. I play it.” Something else that’s caught his attention? Cooking. “I’ve started to cook,” he offers, “and I love it.”

Vinay’s heart is as active as his mind. When he was a teenager, he acted as a scribe for blind students in India, so that they could complete their exams in school. “Someday, I’d love to make an impact like that again for people back in my homeland.”

A piece of advice he’s always carried from his entrepreneurial father: “Don’t look at it as a job. It’s your work – something that you are building and not just doing. That changes how you approach it and impacts what you accomplish in life.”

Vinay has accomplished a lot, already. And he’s only getting started.
