The Industrials, Services and Sustainability (“ISS”) team in the UK & Europe currently comprises eight dedicated professionals led by two seasoned Managing Directors. We provide corporate finance advisory services to clients across a diverse range of sub-sectors, including: Infrastructure and industrial services, equipment rental, construction and built environment, transport and logistics, consulting and professional services, human capital management, mobility, environmental services and sustainability - amongst others. The team is poised to expand, building upon multiple successive years of very strong deal flow - aligned with the broader strategic growth priorities of Canaccord. The opportunity provides exceptional career headroom for an ambitious prospective new joiner.
The role will encompass supporting the origination and execution of corporate advisory transactions as an integral part of a dynamic team.
The Role
- Undertaking valuations of businesses using a variety of methodologies, including relative valuation techniques, leverage buyout models and discounted cash flow analyses, and presenting and discussing the results with the project team, clients and prospective clients.
- Undertaking detailed financial modelling and analysis including valuation and assessing the financial impact of transactions.
- Analysing industry and sector trends, commercial analysis of individual businesses and case studies of transactions.
- Drafting and reviewing marketing materials and other documentation including pitches, teasers, information memorandums, management presentations, strategic review papers, valuation papers and admission / prospectus documents.
- Collating comments from the project team, clients and other advisers on materials produced and working with the team to produce revised materials.
- Involvement in transaction process management to ensure projects run smoothly, anticipating and addressing potential issues/complexities in a timely manner; attending meetings; and working directly with the client’s Finance Director and other senior management.
Our Ideal Candidate
- One to three years’ experience in M&A from a reputable investment bank or independent advisory firm, ideally within Industrials, Services and Sustainability.
- History of outstanding academic and professional achievement.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent with a minimum 2:1 grade.
- Highly numerate.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbally.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Highly organised and reliable, self-starter, motivated and ambitious.
- Strong valuation and financial modelling capabilities.
- Excellent Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills.
