Colin Marks

Colin provides clients with financial planning advice informed by his experience as a practicing lawyer in South Africa and a successful business entrepreneur in Canada. He holds B.Comm and B.Law degrees from University of Natal, in Durban, South Africa. Before joining Canaccord in 2006, Colin was an Investment Advisor with RBC Dominion Securities. Prior to that, he owned, operated, managed and then sold a number of different businesses, including a sign company that was the major contractor for the Calgary 1988 Olympic Games.

Colin immigrated to Canada in 1981 after training and working as a lawyer in Cape Town. He brings a wide range of knowledge and know-how to the table including his legal and business expertise, the wisdom of a father to his twins, and the pragmatism that comes from advising clients through up and down markets. He believes strongly in investing for income and using equities judiciously to enhance long-term returns. Colin is licensed to sell investments, insurance and options. As a lifelong, low-handicap golfer, Colin understands that success is based on a plan and focused “eye on the ball” approach both on the course and for his clients. Accordingly, he stresses the importance of a customized strategy for each client to most effectively suit their long-term investment goals.
