#InspireInclusion

CG Celebrates Women

In recognition of International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month, the call to #InspireInclusion extends beyond our workplaces and challenges each of us to find our own ways to help accelerate gender equality and empower women and girls in all aspects of life.

Who has been the greatest contributor to your success this far?

My dad was the real hero. He ran a successful business and was always good to his employees while also prioritizing our family. He showed me what it means to have a balanced life and that it is possible to have a family and a fulfilling career without having to make sacrifices.

How do you approach your relationship with mentors within your organization and beyond?

Mentors are everywhere, and not necessarily above you. Over more than two decades with CG, I have had several unofficial female mentors and I have also mentored others. Seek out good people with common interests and values, and always be honest and forthcoming. Pick and choose what resonates with you from a variety of people and that will help you find your own voice and path.

How would you like to see others inspire inclusion?

Inspire inclusion by example and others will follow. Be open, inclusive, and kind to everyone, regardless of seniority. Not only will that inspire inclusion for others, but you will have more people in your circle to help you reach your goals.

What is one piece of practical advice you would give to someone starting out in your team/organization?

No one person is perfect, and it can also be limiting to align yourself with only one way of thinking. Be open to different experiences and perspectives, and always help others feel welcomed and understood.
