Smart Passive Portfolio Service for intermediaries

Our Smart Passive Portfolio Service is a managed portfolio service investing in passive investment funds – in effect, funds that track an index. Your clients will have six portfolio options to choose from, depending on their attitude to investment risk.

The passive portfolios are considered ‘smart’ because they benefit from the analytical resources that complement the CGWM investment decision-making process. Traditional solutions available on the market typically use a fixed asset allocation. However, we believe in a dynamic approach that incorporates active asset allocation to determine the mix of both asset classes and funds in each of our six risk-profiled managed portfolios.

It is a cost-effective alternative for clients as the underlying passive funds typically have lower fees than actively managed funds.

Our portfolios

The Cash Plus Portfolio seeks to produce greater overall returns than cash and is invested in fixed interest and cash-equivalent passive funds.

The Cautious Balanced Portfolio aims to provide a balance between capital appreciation and reduced volatility using global equity, fixed interest, and cash-equivalent passive funds.

The Income Portfolio offers the possibility of capital appreciation, focusing on paying an income on a regular basis.

The Balanced Portfolio offers the possibility of capital appreciation, with your client’s income typically reinvested back into the portfolio.

The Growth Portfolio primarily aims to provide capital appreciation and is higher risk. While it may include some fixed interest passive investments, it will tend to focus on investing in passive funds exposed to domestic and international equity markets.

The Aggressive Growth Portfolio aims to provide capital appreciation and will therefore focus mainly on passive funds with exposure to domestic and international equity markets.

Prior to joining, Alasdair was Business Development Manager at Sun Life of Canada, Zurich Intermediary Group and NPI. Alasdair holds the Diploma in Financial Planning from The Chartered Insurance Institute.

Nick joined Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management in 2014 having previously worked for some of Europe’s leading Investment Banks. As a Chartered Wealth Manager and fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments, Nick leads Canaccord’s Managed Portfolio Service and Passive Portfolio Service. Nick specialises in working with court of protection clients and clients of intermediaries, providing investment solutions to their most complex needs.

Paul is head of the Intermediary Portfolio Management team. He has an in-depth understanding of managing funds for high net worth individuals, pensions, trusts and charities and specialises in Alternative Investment Market IHT portfolios. Paul is also a member of the UK Small Cap Stock Selection Committee.

Paul is a Chartered Wealth Manager and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities.
